Have enterprises gone crazy? Or is just the Government that suddenly became best friends forever with technology?

Joke! But not so funny to be honest, when we receive news like "Now you can vote with a selfie".

Yes, this is true but hasn’t been totally approved just yet. It is an idea, a demonstration of a new interface for elections through and app developed by Smartmatic; imagine how thanks to facial recognition of ID people could register automatically into the electoral system and cast their vote along with a selfie…

Turns out this idea shake hands with the biometric system of new MasterCard in South Africa, although selfie project is going on at the United Kingdom, but both are related thanks to the biometric database action. This voting with a selfie would work via a smartphone application (giving you a sort of E-wallet inside your phone) that immediately as you scan the official ID then the captured image gets uploaded and compare to the one on the database; this in order to give birth to your own digital identity.

Not coming as a surprise, apparently there’s a bunch of people giving great interest to this idea, the support is growing and it is kind of ridiculous if you think about it, but the world works as it is and modernism is the concept orchestrating many of the changes that happen at our everyday along and it delivers itself at our table just next to our cup of coffee.

The great development in this might be the fact that people are moving out of elections, the compromise with proper participation percentages are quite low and one of the reason the company took from their investigations are linked to the reality of mobile use. So, in order to make citizens get up on it they decided to create an engaging simple experience to the activity of voting.

Paper Ballot System updated?

Have you ever considered online voting?

Electoral modernism

Trying to produce a new interface for voting and change upside-down the old system is now an interesting proposal, not only to “make people involve” but in order to refresh the outdated reality of our standard methods to accomplish goals of the community, society.

Technology is already been used in almost any kind of process, the analogic way is not outdated precisely but is no longer preferred by the majority of the population, since we already have touchscreen devices available in voting booths to finish the deal, then why not could we be facing the change of having that same touchscreen be our own smartphone? After all, what is more secured and protected than our own stuff? Individuals may seem seduced by these concepts but the ones who are considering not giving a step further with this are the big groups that give answers for cyber security in Europe. There are no green flags that aim for this process to be one with low percentage of possible corruption, so imagine if a network of cellphone gets hacked or the platform “falls down” suddenly, then all votes could get flipped. For the moment, allegations like that are true to the purpose so there is still stuff to cut before making this idea something reliable.
